WHEN APPLYING FOR A PERMIT IN ALLEN TOWNSHIP
FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE

Fill out and turn in ZONING PERMIT (see below) with the appropriate fees to Allen Township. Zoning Permit will take 7 to 10 days to process. You will be notified when the zoning permit has been approved.

Fill out and turn in BUILDING PERMIT to township along with construction plans and deposit for inspection.. This will be turned over to the Inspection Agency. The Inspection Agency may take 15 days to process the building permit. You will be notified when the building permit has been approved.

When you have the approved Zoning Permit from the Township AND Building Permit from the Inspection Agency, you may proceed with the project.

Call the inspector for appropriate inspections.

When the project is complete, the Inspection Agency will notify the Township of the final inspection. The Township will then issue the Certificate of Occupancy.
Sheds and fences do not need inspections - all other projects will need inspections.

Zoning permits are good for one year from the issue date. PLEASE ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME FOR YOUR PERMIT TO BE APPROVED.

Inspection Procedure:
All Zoning Permit Applications submitted to the Zoning Office for review will be subject to inspections pursuant to Allen Township Ordinance #2001-04. The Board of Supervisors adopted this ordinance pursuant to the Act known as the "Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code".
The Board of Supervisors chose the "third party inspection" approach to administer the codes. A BUILDING PERMIT must be obtained from one of the following building code inspection agencies:

Applicants for Building Permits should contact one of these firms and make arrangements for all necessary inspections. Zoning Permits will not be issued without a valid building permit obtained from the inspector. Additionally, occupancy permits will not be issued should a project fail to pass all required inspections.
The following inspections are required:
- Footer and foundation
- Plumbing, electrical, and mechanical
- Frame and masonry
- Wallboard
- Final inspections
